• Description: Provides a comprehensive range of workforce preparation and job search assistance for individuals involved with several county programs including CalWORKs, General Relief, Helping Humboldt, Probation and Transitional-Age Youth as well as wage subsidies and job placement assistance for employersThrough activities and direct services, ETD provides clients the support they need to prepare for work and successfully obtain and retain employment. ETD also provides businesses with support to find, hire and onboard new staff. These efforts, in turn, improve the productivity and competitiveness of Humboldt County's businesses and workers. The Employment Resource Center includes a drop-in computer lab, two classrooms and professional vocational counselors who provide: Local labor market information Vocational assessments and goal setting Job readiness and job search workshops Individualized vocational counseling Computer and basic educational skills Linkages to job training opportunities. Services for employers include: Hiring assistance Subsidized wage programs Monthly employer panels where job candidates can meet with employers. Programs for at-risk youth include: Assistance obtaining a high school diploma or equivalent Career and education planning Job readiness and job search assistance.

• Eligibility: Employment Resource Center workshops and employer panels are available to DHHS clients and other local social service agencies. ETD's one-on-one vocational counseling, in-depth job search assistance, placement supports and subsidized wage programs are available to DHHS, the Probation Department and Helping Humboldt clients only.
